Flippaball

Flippa Ball is the junior version of water polo and is one of the most rapidly growing sports for school children in New Zealand.

Willow Park offers Flippa Ball to Year 5 and 6 children.  Games are played on a Sunday afternoon between 3:00pm - 8:00pm at the Millennium Institute of Sport and Health, Anatares Place, Albany.

Children interested in playing need to be competent swimmers.   The games are 20 minutes in duration – with two 10 minute halves.   They are intense, fast paced games and involve a lot of swimming!

The beginners pool is shallow (approximately 1.3 metres deep), allowing players to stand on the bottom.  There is a second, slightly deeper pool for the more experienced players.   Teams consist of a minimum of seven players - 6 field players and 1 goalie.

Each competition at the Millennium Institute runs for one term, so there are four opportunities each year for children to get in to a team.  Interest letters are distributed to the classes in the final weeks of the term for the term ahead.

Fees - $55 per term (current as at 2011 - subject to change)
