Netball

Netball at Willow Park has continued to grow over the years and now fields up to thirteen teams over the winter and summer competitions.

The Year 0 – 4 children play at the Pinehurst module on a Saturday and the Year 5 / 6 children play at the Onewa module. Year 5 teams play on a Monday from 4pm – 6pm and the Year 6 teams play on a Wednesday afternoon.

With so many teams we have been very fortunate to have a number of talented parents who take on the coaching roles and without them the children would not have the pleasure of learning the skills of the game.

For the Pinehurst module the teams rotate positions each week, the Year 5 teams play Kiwi netball, where they rotate every ten minutes, therefore experiencing four positions each game. The year 6 teams play straight netball so as to play to their strengths and prepare for intermediate netball.

Willow Park netball has established a mark at each of these modules, with many successes and fielding so many teams shows the pleasure and enjoyment the children experience as they come back each year.

We look forward again to another fun and successful season in 2009.
